WOODEN WICK CANDLE CARE
To care for a wood wick candle, trim the wick before each use, ensuring it's no longer than 1/8 to 1/4 inch, and allow the wax to pool across the entire diameter during the first burn. Burn for 2-4 hours at a time and keep the candle away from drafts.
Detailed Steps for Wood Wick Candle Care:
- Trim the wick: Before each use, trim the wick to a length of about 1/8 to 1/4 inch, removing any charred wood from previous burns.
- First burn: Allow the wax to melt across the entire surface of the candle during the first burn (about 60+ minutes) to prevent tunneling.
- Burn time: Burn the candle for 2-4 hours at a time, and keep it away from drafts.
- Extinguish properly: Blow out the flame gently and allow the candle to cool.
- Regular trimming: Trim the wick regularly you can do this by simply pinching off burnt wood especially after each burn, to ensure a clean and efficient burn.
- Remove debris: If you notice any debris or soot in the wax pool, remove it using a damp cloth.
- Draft-free environment: Keep the candle away from drafts, as they can affect the flame and make it difficult to relight.
- Know when to say goodbye:When the wax pool is shallow or the wick is too short, it's time to discard the candle.
Troubleshooting:
- Low Flame:
If the flame gets too low, you may need to extinguish it and let the candle cool, then remove any ash or charred wood. - Dwindling Flame:
A dwindling or flickering flame may indicate a knot or defect in the wood wick. - Wick Won't Stay Lit:
If the wick won't stay lit, it may be due to it being too long or needing to be trimmed of charred material.
